All I want is a British passport! - by Tamasha Theatre
22nd May, 2003
Following a sell out run at the Actors Centre in March 2003, Tamasha Theatre Company and the Actors Centre is remounting the hugely successful All I Want Is A British Passport! Written by Nadim Sawahla.Nadim is both the writer and star of this one-man comedy, which takes a sympathetic and funny look at the man with the most famous ‘corner shop’ in the UK, Mohammed Al Fayed, and his quest to obtain a British Passport. The play is sharp, poignant and witty; and in the initial run the audience loved it!
Nadim's connection with Tamasha started with East is East when he played the father in Kristine Landon-Smith's stage production of the play. His most recent work in the theatre was with Cheek by Jowl at the Young Vic in Homebody/Kabul by Tony Kushner, directed by Declan Donnellan. Prior to that he was at the National Theatre in Patrick Marber's production of his play, Howard Katz. He acted in his own play, Prophet in Exile, directed by Corin Redgrve at the Chelsea Art Centre.
All I want… is part of Tamasha Theatre Company’s new writing programme: TAMASHA WRITING. Ryman and The Sheikh was the first production in this programme, which looked to the actor to author or co-author the work. Rehan Sheikh and Chris Ryman joined Tamasha and comedy writer Richard Vranch to create a semi improvised comedy. The show premiered at the Edinburgh Festival last year and then toured to Manchester Contact, Birmingham Rep and Soho Theatre.
The show is on the 22nd, 23rd and 29th of May at 8.00pm and the 30th of May 7.30pm. And 6th and 7th of June at 8.00pm
