Gurinder Chadha confirmed as Dallas director
19th April, 2006

Gurinder Chadha has been confirmed as the new director to make the film version of the popular TV series Dallas, AIM can reveal.

It follows speculation last week when her name was linked to the remake.

At the time however nothing official had been confirmed by the studio 20th Century Fox or the director.

The British director, who is currently gearing up for the release of husband Paul Mayeda Berges' debut film Mistress of Spices, released a statement today.

She said: "I am obviously delighted that the deal has been confirmed after so much enthusiastic speculation."

She added: "Directing a film with stars like John Travolta and J-Lo is fantastic, and shows that the market of Brit-Asian films that both Paul and I have become synonymous with, has huge credibility and respect in Hollywood."

There is also speculation that Brad Pitt, who starred in the original television series, may be cast in the film.

Filming is scheduled to start in October. The remainder of the cast will be finalised in coming weeks, and the film set for release in late 2007.

John Travolta as the infamous JR and J-Lo as Sue Ellen have been confirmed.

Negotiations with Luke Wilson as Bobby and Shirley Maclaine as Miss Ellie are said to be taking place.
