BBC Asian Network's Bob Shennan has told AIM magazine that no management changes are due following from his discussion with the BBC's director-general last week.

The station's controller was responding to an article in AIM magazine last week that indicated he was meeting Mark Thompson in light of the corporation's announced job cuts.

There were rumours circulating internally that a five-year plan was to be unveiled but these turned out to be unfounded.

"The meeting in Birmingham was a successful one and I mapped out how the Director Generals announcements this week impacted on the Asian Network," he said.

"There are no management changes in the offing," he added.

He was also responding to some internal speculation that station editor Vijay Sharma may go.

"[On Thursday] the DG revealed the plans for the BBC for the next 5 years and in our meetings in Birmingham I was able to outline what that future holds for the AN."

"In many ways we are ahead of the game in terms of the BBCs Creative Future, we've been on that journey for last two years and we've been the beneficiaries of investment over the past 18 months as we have radically altered the station," he said.

"We face more testing financial times but will be pressing on to develop the station."

"We will be planning further changes over the coming months in our bid to make the Asian Network reflect the new sound of Asian Britain."
