New editor at Midlands magazine
27th August, 2007

The glossy lifestyle magazine is predominantly distributed across the West Midlands to special outlets including bars, restaurants, music and entertainment stores, hair and beauty salons, health and fitness clubs, fashion boutiques, hotels and shopping centres.
It is being re-launched after G10 Ltd, a large printing company from the area, bought out the freely distributed publication.
Amrit was previously a sub-editor and features writer at the London based Black Beauty & Hair magazine.
Graduating from University of Wolverhampton in 2005 with a BA in Marketing & Media Studies, she moved back to Hertfordshire and did three months work experience at a publishing house in hometown Letchworth.
That led to a permanent position before she moved to London at Black Beauty & Hair.
She told AIM magazine that Mystyle was designed to be the "definitive lifestyle magazine for the Midlands". It was first launched last year under different management.
It is aimed at men and women aged 22-30, specifically targeting readers with news and reviews of events and bars, clubs and retail outlets. It will also cover fashion and music (with Bhangra reviews by Dipps Bhamrah of BBC Asian Network).
She said her ethnicity was an irrelevant factor at her position since her magazine was aimed at everyone.
"I believe it's not the colour of your skin employers see, it's your determination and ambition. Know your goal and believe you will achieve it no matter what."
The magazine will re-launch with its winter issue.
