Orange offers a part in a Bollywood film
4th September, 2006
Orange has teamed up with Bollywood film distributor Eros International to give its customers a chance to appear in a forthcoming film. The mobile phone network announced the deal this week, saying wannabe Bollywood stars only needed to post a picture message of themselves dressed in a Bollywood theme to Orange World on their mobile phone to enter.
Entries will then be voted on by Orange users who can access the gallery of hopefuls via their mobile phone on the network's Orange World platform. The one with the most votes wins the competition.
Sharon Cooke, marketing manager at Orange, said: "Bollywood is taking the UK by storm and rating people on Rough or Buff is one of our most popular boredom busters. This is a hot combination which captures what’s popular now, user generated content and Bollywood film.
"We’re expecting it to be a really popular competition and look forward to making someone’s dream come true."
The company already offers Bollywood ringtones, clips, wallpapers and text alerts on their phones through a partnership with Pocket Group, branded as Brasian Mobile.
It recently also signed a deal with the Asian channel B4U Movies to offer Bollywood content when subscribing to one of its packages costing over £35 a month. The deal offered unlimited Orange texts and free ring tones for B4U customers.
Eros International is one of the world's biggest Bollywood film distributors, behind the recently released hit Omkara and Kahi Alvida Na Kehna.
