Privacy Policy

Asians in Media collects information about you for one simple reason: to help you use our services more effectively and securely.

We also collect aggregate information about our users, such as the number of visitors, what country they come from, and what website referred them to us, but none of this is personal information from your computer. Most of it is standard information almost all websites collect.

None of the information you provide to us will be shared with third parties without your express consent. That is our promise.

Email newsletters
By providing your email address to us, you agree that Asians in Media can send you correspondence through email. That usually refers to the newsletter you receive once a week from us.

However, occasionally we might send you correspondence relating to breaking news or major announcements. If you have signed up to receive other information (such as job vacancies), you may receive further correspondence.

Under no circumstances will the email addresses we collect be sold or provided to third parties without your express consent.

Information we collect
We collect information on our users through registration. This is required to ensure that we can provide certain personalised services in the forums. When you post messages, we also store the IP address of your machine to ensure a person does not try to try to duplicate usernames.

In the future we may ask for further information to build you a 'profile' page, but the information you provide will be editable and entirely voluntary.

Reading the Asians in Media website as a visitor does not require you to provide any information to us. We do not put cookies on your computers unlike other websites to track your browsing habits.

We may ask you further, voluntary questions in the future so we can gain a clearer understanding of our users. Your responses might help us to sell appropriate advertising space and so keep the site free. They also enable us to personalise services for our users.

We will not share this information with third parties unless you have specifically consented to this.

We follows the relevant legal requirements and use all reasonable precautions to ensure only responsible third parties see the information, however we are not responsible for any breach of security or any actions of any third parties who receive the information.

Please note that we reserve the right to access and disclose individually identifiable information to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests, to operate our systems properly and to protect both ourselves and our users.

To summarise:
  • We respect your privacy online and email privacy. You will not receive unsolicited mail from Asians in Media or through third parties affiliated to us unless you have expressly agreed to this. We may mail you occasionally with information about your registration and/or your account.

  • By subscribing to our email services, you agree to receive content from us by email on a regular basis. But we will not pass on any individual details unless we have your prior consent. Emails you receive from us might occasionally contain advertisements.

  • We will only share anonymous aggregate statistics about our users, sales and traffic patterns with our advertisers.

  • Should our privacy policy change, we will post the changes here. Where the changes are significant, we may also choose to email all our registered users with the new details.

  • Asians In Media is an online media and current affairs magazine. We publish news, reviews and opinion that fits into that editorial remit. We also aim to promote further diversity in British media.

We send out a free weekly email newsletter that you can subscribe to from here.
