"Because television and film play such an important role in the cultural and economic life of Britain, it is crucial that these industries are representative of the nation's rich cultural and ethnic mix, both on and off-screen. That is why the Government is committed to ensure fair representation of ethnic minorities in the media industry. I wish Asians in Media every success in their aim to promote Asian talent in British film and television, it will make our industry stronger and our output more attractive to a wider world audience."

- Kim Howells, Minister for Culture

"I welcome this new initiative to increase the representation of Asians in the media but I also regret that it is necessary at all. As someone who still works in the media industry I know that change isn't happening fast enough. There may be more minority stars on screen and mike; and there may be a smattering of Asian columnists in Fleet Street, but there is a long way to go before the UK media truly mirrors the diverse make-up of society. I very much hope that Asians in Media can help turn the tide."

- Trevor Phillips, Comission for Racial Equality chairman

"There are fewer more powerful images to prove to our community what we can do, then seeing someone from the community presenting on TV or radio or writing in print. There are few sadder things than talent wasted for believing it cannot do something. AiM is an excellent initiative for increasing representation in the media and harnessing so much latent talent from the Asian community to the benefit of all communities."

- Alpesh Patel, Columnist at the FT, Tie-UK Charter member and on the AIM Committee

"The Asian contribution to London's creative industries, including media and publishing, is a huge asset to future growth in the capital. Organisations like Asians in Media have a vital role in promoting the work of Asian professionals in the industry and offering an opportunity for those working in the media, or wanting to work in the industry, a place to communicate with each other. The website also offers a useful resource for anyone wanting to keep updated the Asian contribution in the media. I would like to offer my best wishes to the success of Asians in Media."

- Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London

"We wish you all the best with this innovative and practical idea. I am sure that it will be a huge success, and an invaluable resource for the Asian Media. The Asian Media is proving to be making an exciting, vibrant and valuable contribution for British Asians. The Conservative Party recognises this contribution as being very important"

- Dominic Grieves, Shadow Home Affairs Minister & spokesman on Community Cohesion
