Farah Damji to be sentenced on 20th January
January 5, 2010

The former magazine editor Farah Damji will be sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday 20th January, AIM magazine can reveal.

A sentencing was originally scheduled for 6th January.

But the law firm representing told court officials she showed symptoms of “suspected tuberculosis”.

Ms Damji was due to face a trial for fraud charges on 16th December 2009 but the trial did not go ahead for unspecified reasons.

It is likely the trial related to the £17,000 fraud charges we outlined earlier.

Court officials told AIM magazine in December that instead of facing trial, Ms Damji would go straight to sentencing on 6th January. That date has now been moved back further by two weeks.

In 2005 Farah Damji was sentenced to jail for three and half years. She had been found guilty of committing fraud against several people within the Asian media industry.

The latest series of charges relate to alleged offences after she was released from prison.

According to court officials she is now being represented by Imran Khan and Partners.
