Archie Punjabi to star in US network series

The actress Archie Punjabi is starring in the American TV series The Good Wife. It will start broadcasting later this month.

The legal drama is being produced by one of the three major US networks – CBS.

It stars Julianna Luisa Margulies as a woman whose husband, a high-profile politician, goes to jail after a sex scandal. She takes up law again to free her husband.

Panjabi plays Kalinda, a bisexual investigator who works alongside Julianna Margulies (Alicia).

Eventually Alicia works with Kalinda to transform herself from an embarrassed politician’s wife to resilient career woman. She trades in her identity as the “good wife” and takes charge of her own destiny.

The primetime show premieres on CBS on 22nd September, according to the US-Indian blog Sepia Mutiny.

Archie Panjabi is best known for her debut role in East Is East, and later Bend it Like Beckham. She has since starred in several films including The Constant Gardener and A Mighty Heart.

She won Best Actress Award at the Reims Festival and the Shooting Star Award at the Berlin International Film Festival for her leading role in the Channel 4 film Yasmin. She will next be seen in the upcoming film House Husbands.
