The BBC will showcase this year’s Proms 2009 Season with a first-ever Bollywood Prom performance.
The 2009 Season will be the biggest ever, according to the BBC, featuring a 100 concerts and 70 further Proms Plus events.
It was launched this week on the South Steps of the Royal Albert Hall with a colourful performance from trumpeter Alison Balsom and Bollywood dancers from Honey’s Dance Academy (pictured).

The BBC is putting together a series of ‘Indian Voices Day’ events at the Proms. These will include the first Bollywood Prom and other groundbreaking concerts celebrating various Indian vocal styles.
The Proms will feature among the world’s best-known classical music to premieres of specially commissioned new work.
Music from the Court of Henry VIII will feature alongside folk music of India; celebrations of the rich choral tradition of Cambridge University will sit next to musicals of MGM pictures.
