The Hackney Empire in London is hosting a season of performances exploring creativity, citizenship and culture by London’s next generation of artists
There Ain’t No Black In The Union Jack (inspired by Paul Gilroy’s book of the same title) brings together some of the most exciting talent in Britain today in a season of new theatre, performance, music and happenings.
Three evenings of captivating theatre, showcasing new writing by emerging artists, will culminate in a night of music, performance and dance at the Hackney Empire on July 17th.
The programme looks at what it means to be British today, exploring themes of race, place, identity, cultural diversity and imperialism.
Event organisers say it will be a unique opportunity to discover what young people - aged 15 - 30 - from across the capital feel about these issues today.
