A new weekend schedule at Asian Network will launch from 17th May, the radio station announced this week, with the creation of two new shows.

Newcomer Tommy Sandhu will present the New Weekend Breakfast Show from 7am – 9am on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The show will offer listeners the best in Asian music classics, Bollywood entertainment gossip, news and sport.

Asian Network DJ and Zee TV presenter Murtaza Ali, aka Murtz, will present the Request Show on Saturday afternoons from 2pm – 5pm. The show will play the top Asian songs as requested by listeners. Murtz is currently co-presenting Love Bollywood with Rajini Vaidyanathan on weekends.

Bollywood fanatics Raj&Pablo will come back to presenting Love Bollywood on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Tommy Sandhu said: “Having DJ’d in London for years, I know what a heavy Friday and Saturday night feels like – so whether you’re getting up … or just getting in … I’m looking forward to easing everyone into their Saturday and Sunday mornings! … It’ll be like one BIG BUFFET BREAKFAST show… there’ll be something for everyone!”

Murtz said: “I’m really excited and scared! Having presented Love Bollywood for a year it’s going to be weird going back to presenting on my own! But I can’t wait to get my teeth into it! Three hours of wicked tunes, jokes and typical Murtz humour – no holds barred!”
